What is Intraoral Photogrammery
SHINING 3D’s Intraoral Photogrammetry(IPG) innovatively integrates photogrammetry with intraoral scanning. In cases such as edentulous jaw implants and partial edentulism, when used in conjunction with high-precision encoded scan bodies, it enables rapid acquisition of implant positions and angles, as well as detailed intraoral data of teeth and gingival soft tissue. This provides a reliable foundation for the passive fit of implant-supported bridges.
The SHINING 3D Elite and Elite Wireless next-generation scanners integrate IPG technology, setting a new standard for data capture in orthodontics, general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. With a sleek, ergonomic design, they enable clinicians to collect precise implant and intraoral data efficiently, streamlining workflows and ensuring reliable outcomes.
From Metrology to Dentistry: The Innovation of Intraoral Photogrammery

Founded in 2004, SHINING 3D has focused on research & development, manufacturing, and applying high-precision 3D digital products for over 20 years.
SHINING 3D develops, manufactures, and commercializes a wide range of 3D technologies, including 3D scanners for multiple industries and applications, different types of 3D printers, and professional software from CAD design to 3D inspection.
We know that accuracy in 3D scanning is a critical parameter that determines the reliability and fidelity of the scanned data. Accuracy refers to the closeness between a measured value and its true value.
SHINING 3D Accuracy Laboratory’s accreditation by CNAS and its qualification to issue VDI/VDE calibration certificates signify its adherence to international standards. This endorsement ensures the reliability and global recognition of the laboratory’s calibration services, meeting stringent industry requirements and enhancing trust among stakeholders in the precision engineering and technology sectors. SHINING 3D is committed to consistently delivering accurate and dependable digital 3D full-size measurement solutions, contributing to advancements in quality assurance and technological innovation worldwide.
How does IPG Work
Intraoral Photogrammetry (IPG) is an advanced digital technology that captures highly accurate 3D representations of the oral cavity, especially for complex procedures like implant placement and full-arch restorations. The process begins with the use of Aoralscan Elite, a specialized intraoral scanner designed to take multiple high-resolution images from various angles inside the patient’s mouth.
To ensure accuracy, the clinician places scanbodies onto the dental implants. These scanbodies serve as fixed reference points that the system uses to triangulate and reconstruct the precise spatial positions of each implant. The IPG system creates a detailed 3D model of the patient’s dentition and implant positions by analyzing the geometric relationships between these scanbodies in the captured images.
This model is then used for virtual implant planning and the design of final restorations.

What are the benefits of IPG
-
Great Accuracy
Integrated with advanced image processing algorithms and real-time dynamic tracking technology, Intraoral Photogrammetry/ IPG uses coded patterns on the scanbody as accuracy control points. IPG technology guarantees global accuracy and consistency. Elite offers rapid recognition and precise calculation of positional posture, ensuring perfect placement of passive implants during the final restoration process. -
Great Efficiency
IPG technology offers a revolutionary approach to streamlining the scanbody positioning process by just scanning coded patterns on the scanbodies’ top surfaces. Oral Photogrammetry replaces the traditional methods of labor-intensive intraoral multi-angle scanbody scanning, simplifying and accelerating the acquisition of complete scanbody profiles with greater efficiency and precision. -
Simplified Workflow for Doctors
Aoralscan Elite’s 2-in-1 system offers a seamless blend of intraoral scanning and potogrammetry functionalities. Integrating these two processes into a single unit simplifies dental workflows, saving time and resources. Elite’s advanced technology captures high-precision 3D models, facilitating accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Dentists benefit from one intuitive interface that streamlines operations and enhances overall productivity -
Great Experience for Patients
Aoralscan Elite also brings patients a more comfortable and accurate diagnostic and treatment experience for edentulous patient treatment. Aoralscan’s precision ensures that diagnosis is not only more reliable but also faster, relieving anxiety and the uncertainty that patients typically face while waiting for results.
