Celebrating the 1st anniversary of SHINING 3D Aoralscan Elite and IPG (Intraoral Photogrammetry)! This is a special milestone. On September 10, 2024, IPG was officially launched, with its core positioning being to provide professional support for complex cases in the field of dental implants.
In the past year of clinical practice, IPG has been successfully applied to various dental restoration cases, including edentulous arch implants, immediate implants, and aesthetic reconstructions, serving as an important tool to enhance diagnostic and treatment efficiency.
IPG (Intraoral Photogrammetry) is an advanced technology that integrates intraoral scanning with dental photogrammetry.
Its working principle involves placing multiple high-precision coded scanbodies into the oral cavity. During scanning, the photogrammetry dental scanner quickly calculates the relative positions of the scanbodies by utilizing the absolute coordinates of the coded points and the 3D coordinates extracted by the IPG scanner, thereby accurately capturing the positioning of teeth, gums, and implants. This addresses the issue of cumulative errors in image stitching encountered in traditional IOS.
SHINING 3D IPG intraoral scanner achieves a scanning accuracy of up to 5μm. It is specifically designed for full-arch digital impressions in implant cases.
The seamless integration of intraoral photogrammetry and intraoral scanners leverages our two decades of expertise in industrial metrology. It addresses common challenges in global dentistry, such as soft tissue deformation and optical interference in edentulous implant cases.
In the full-arch implant workflows, intraoral photogrammetry brings a revolutionized effect:
1) For dentists:
2) For patients:
Over the past year, IPG has reshaped how dental professionals approach digital implantology, while bringing transformative benefits to edentulous patients by enhancing implant success rates and improving their quality of life.
This case was provided by Dr. Anas Almisurati from Libya. The female patient had been missing teeth for many years, particularly in the maxillary arch. Due to impaired chewing and speech function, priority was given to maxillary treatment. Five implants were placed for the patient, and the entire process utilized Aoralscan Elite and MetiSmile:
A six-month follow-up showed that the final prosthesis remained stable, and the patient was highly satisfied with both the functional and aesthetic outcomes.
This case was provided by Dr. Yan Wenren. It involved using the Aoralscan Elite to accurately capture implant positions and utilizing the jaw motion function of MetiSmile-MR to determine the optimal jaw relation.
The female patient had worn removable dentures for an extended period. Due to poor chewing function, she adopted All-on-X implant surgery in both the maxilla and mandible with plans for immediate loading. The treatment faced two challenges:
Treatment Process:
Then, intraoral data and jaw relation data were combined and designed dentures in Exocad, which were then rapidly fabricated using 3D printing (AccuFab-F1). The temporary prosthesis was successfully delivered on the same day, requiring minimal adjustments.
Since its release, the SHINING 3D photogrammetry dental scanner has quickly gained acclaim from dentists and clinics nationwide. Here is our journey so far:
Sept 10, 2024: IPG was officially launched, marking its transition from R&D to clinical practice, providing more precise and convenient treatment solutions for complex dental implant cases.
Sept 10, 2024: Dr. Thann Thamm (Cambodia) completed the first clinic installation and began accepting cases.
Jan 23, 2025: IPG won the “Best IOS Award 2024” by IDD, gaining industry recognition. This award highly affirmed IPG’s technological innovation, clinical application effectiveness, user satisfaction, and other aspects. More dental professionals began paying attention to this innovative intraoral scanning solution.
Feb 12, 2025: Released Cap ScanBody for immediate load protocols. This milestone marked the extension of IPG’s application to the challenging field of “immediate loading.” The Cap ScanBody effectively addresses the challenge of aligning soft tissue with implants in environments rich in blood and saliva.
Feb 26, 2025: First accuracy study published, proving IPG’s precision. Through experimental and clinical data, the study validated IPG’s advantages in measurement accuracy, helping to build trust in intraoral photogrammetry technology among dentists and patients.
Mar 25, 2025: Launched Aoralscan Elite Wireless with IPG. The combination of photogrammetry technology and the convenience of wireless scanners significantly enhanced clinical operational flexibility and user experience.
Jul 9, 2025: Achieved DDS Precision Certification. This further demonstrated the high precision of the IPG intraoral scanner in dental clinic workflows, alleviating concerns for many dentists.
7 accuracy studies published. Through multiple studies, the accuracy performance of IPG can be evaluated more comprehensively and precisely, providing more reliable references for clinical applications and enhancing user confidence.
66 implant systems supported. Greater compatibility meets the needs of doctors and more patients globally.
IPG is adopted in 93 countries. Today, IPG is playing a significant role in the global dental healthcare field, offering more precise and efficient medical services to dental patients worldwide.
At the one-year milestone of the IPG system’s release, its achievements stand as a powerful testament to SHINING 3D DENTAL’s commitment to advanced dental treatment.
Moving forward, SHINING 3D DENTAL will continue to innovate, focusing on developing more convenient and integrated solutions aimed at further streamlining clinical workflows and enhancing treatment outcomes.
