How to get started
PC Requirement
  • We recommend PC specification:
  • i7 processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • nVIDIA GeForce GTX 640 or better
  • Windows 7SP1/8/8.1/10 64bit
  • 2* USB 2.0 for DS/DS100/DS100+
  • 2*USB 3.0 for DS200+/DS300
  • In regard of graphic card, we don't recommend any graphic card except nVIDIA GeForce series.
  • You may need a PCI Express card for your desktop PC in some scenarios. Host card U3X2-PCIE4XE302 from IOI Technology is the only model verified by Shining 3D.

  • ⅰ. Connect scanner to power adapter with power cable
  • ⅱ. Connect scanner to PC USB ports with USB cables, please be aware of all Shining 3D desktop scanner except DS200+ and DS300 should be connected through USB 2.0 port, DS200+ and DS300 are connected through USB 3.0
  • ⅲ. Copy compressed installation file from disc and unzip it
  • ⅳ. Double click "Setup.exe" to start installation, please follow screen instruction
  • ⅴ. In the last step of installation, program prompts opening Launch Activator. Launch Activator is used to bind Shining 3D DentalScan with exocad dentalDB, once binding user can call DentalScan from exocad dentalDB order creation page
  • ⅵ. To verify the DentalScan installation correctly, please start DentalScan and click Machine Test button on top menu bar. Generally, if two camera windows appear normally and no blinking image found means installation complete.
  • ⅰ. Make sure PLE file present under directory shining3d\DentalScan\encodeplane before calibration
  • ⅱ. Put calibration plate inside scanner, attach it to scanner base with three magnetic metal knobs. Calibration plate serial number should be corresponding with PLE
  • ⅲ. Copy compressed installation file from disc and unzip it
  • ⅳ. iv.Calibration succeed when you see X/Y/Z value appears
  • ⅰ. Create a new order from Shining3D DentalManager/ exocad DentalDB/ DentalScan built-in order creation
  • ⅱ. Scanning sequence is like 1)Bite 2)Antagonist model 3)Working model 4)Individual die(s)
  • ⅲ. Thirdparty folder is generated if Setting>Create data for third party option checked after scanning
  • ⅳ. All scans are saved as STL format by default
